The Laldighi Mosque in Rangpur

Laldighi Mosque




Laldighi Mosque is an ancient mosque located at Laldighi in  Rangpur district. The architecture of the mosque is similar to Mughal Sculptures. The exact date of construction is not known. However, as per information collected from the local people, the probable date of construction might be in between 17th and 8th century. Due to some reasons unknown, the mosque fell into disuse and was hidden in a thick jungle. In the late British period it was discovered and since then prayers are being held regularly. There is a large pond in front of the mosque. It is entirely a brick built mosque has a multi-domed square structure with an outside dimension of 9.45m on each side.
