Shaista Khan Mosque



Shaista Khan Mosque is situated by the Buriganga River at Mitford Area in old Dhaka. The mosque is the architecture of Mughal period, was built by Mughal Subedar Shaista Khan who ruled Bengal from 1664 to 1688. Though the exact date of construction is not known but it is assumed that during the rule of Shaista Khan the mosque was built. During the British rule, the mosque was seriously damaged by fire. Though the mosque has been repaired but it has lost its original look. It is a historically significant architectural monument. The mosque has three domes and four towers. Still, it bears a significant sign of the age of Shaista Khan.
